Series: Love & Coffee, Book 1
She’s the boss.
And then there’s Doug Maddox, a man with a lot of power over me. He’s blackmailing me. Making me spy on her. I’m supposed to find her weaknesses and destroy her. But the closer I get, the more the lines between us start to blur.
She’s sweet. She’s kind. She’s sexy as hell.
Why am I the only man who see’s this?
So now I’m stuck—between keeping my sister safe against Doug, because that’s what’s really at stake here, and these feelings I can’t deny for a woman who shouldn’t mean anything to me.
I know what I have to do. I’ll destroy her.
It doesn’t matter if I have to destroy my own heart in the process.
I just literally finished reading this book about 30 minutes ago and I am left with my eyes wide and jaw hanging open because of the ending. So let’s rewind a little bit. But First, Coffee is not your normal office romance. It is so nontraditional that I had a hard time starting this book. I had to slow it down, think about the direction this story was heading. Then we get to the part where Joe’s past comes out and my heart is hurting. From there the story takes off to places I have never been from a book.
So we know that Joe is hiding a secret. The only downfall was the angst was building the truth has to come out. When it did, there was not really a big bang about it. Yes it was not pretty. But it was out in the open and before I knew it, all was better. That was the only pang of disappointment I had in the story.
I have to comment on the main characters names. I freakin’ love them! We have Joe Coffee and Lana Bitterman. Cute, right? For our villain, I have mixed emotions. There was really not an “evil” or “dark” side to him. But that can just be his personality playing on the readers emotion. Kitty, well I get the vibe that her story needs to be heard and we will see more Doug in it. I am fully invested in these characters and will certainly follow this series. Especially since the series involves coffee.
